Vacation Care – Scrapbooking with Mrs Ruddick.
I had a fun filled afternoon teaching children how to make 10cm paper peonies using the spellbinder grand calibur. They loved getting hands on with the machine and one of the boys was particularly interested in how the machine actually cut the shapes. I took the time to show him the cutting edge of the peony die cuts and took great pleasure in watching the interest in his expression. I can see a mechanical engineer in the making.
Out of the mouths of babes:
I said, ‘you put the sandwich through the machine’. ‘You mean it can make sandwiches too?’
For those who don’t know, the grand calibur uses plastic boards called plates and together the plates are referred to as a sandwich. In this instance we used a base plate and a cutting plate.
Thinking about it, the person who created this piece of machinery must have been hungry when they named it.
More to come:
I’m looking forward to next Monday’s lesson. I’m going to teach them how to create a scrapbook page and am looking forward to spending the weekend creating little packs for the kids.
